Now imagine that feeling happening over and over, spreading out all across Lee's Summit. That's the kind of energy we see every single day here at Lee's Summit Social Services. It's that constant wave of kindness that has kept us going strong for over 30 years, helping our neighbors.
While we are incredibly grateful for any large gifts that come our way and recognize the significant impact they can have, the truth is that the heart of Lee's Summit Social Services beats strongest with the steady rhythm of many individuals consistently choosing to give what they can. We understand that times are tough for many, and our mission truly thrives on those heartfelt contributions, big or small, made by people every day who believe in making a real difference right here in our community.
"Small" Acts-Big Impact:
Here are some everyday examples of how these "little" acts come together to really support our mission here at Lee's Summit Social Services.
The Volunteer Hour: One person volunteering for an hour each week might seem like a drop in the bucket. However, when ten, twenty, or fifty people donate an hour of their time, it translates to countless hours of direct service, helping us hand out food to our clients, sorting incoming donations in our thrift shop, preparing food for our food pantry, or collecting food donations from local businesses. Each hour, multiplied, becomes a significant investment of care and support.
The Small Donation: A $10 or $20 donation might seem modest. But when dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of individuals contribute what they can, it adds up to a substantial fund that allows us to distribute monthly groceries for a family, provide children new shoes for the school year, or help a family pay a utility bill that, if disconnected, could lead to eviction. Every small contribution is a building block for something bigger. Consider contributing to our $25/month in 2025 campaign.

Our mission is to support low-income, elderly, and/or disabled individuals facing emergency needs in the Lee's Summit Social Services area while helping them preserve their dignity. This mission is driven by the spirit of our community.
